Everyone’s Got Something

Unfortunately, we all know someone who is battling something.

I battle Type 1 Diabetes.

Since November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, I am going to take a moment to “make my mess my message”. Please be kind enough to read:

1 – Approximately 1.25 million American children and adults have Type 1 diabetes

2 – Diabetes kills more Americans every year than AIDS and breast cancer combined

3 – A person diagnosed with diabetes at age 50 dies 6 years earlier than a counterpart without diabetes

4 – Diabetes is a chronic illness where those who suffer from it take insulin injections multiple times a day, and need to prick their fingers to test their blood sugar multiple times a day as well.

5 – THERE IS NO CURE FOR TYPE 1 DIABETES – I am insulin dependent for life

Diabetes is a chronic illness that affects the way your body regulates blood sugar, or glucose. Glucose is the fuel that feeds your body’s cells, but to enter your cells it needs a key. Insulin is that key. People with Type 1 Diabetes don’t produce insulin because their pancreas can’t. You can think of it as not having a key.

That all being said, there are many foundations out there fighting to find a cure for this disease.

I happen to work for an amazing organization that supports and understands my diabetic needs, and I am grateful every day.

This month, Strive2Move hopes to be able to make a difference too!

If you refer someone who comes in for a FREE DISCOVERY visit and then begins a treatment plan, we will be donate to help discover a cure!! THAT’S AMAZING!!

So, if you have a friend or family member who needs our help – an athlete, an active person, anyone at all who wants to get back to doing all they love pain free…PLEASE let me know! I will be happy to reach out to them because that means WE ARE ALL HELPING EACH OTHER!
