Over the past few years, I’ve discovered a love for exercise and training. What began as a desire to shed some extra weight, turned into a real commitment to health and fitness goals. I love the results I have achieved and I love the way it makes me feel.
That’s why when my back and hip started hurting, I was scared that I would no longer be able to train the way that I wanted to. A couple of different doctors strongly suggested that I not lift anything over 45 pounds or so, which reinforced my fear. While part of me thought that perhaps this might be my new reality, I wasn’t ready to fully accept that I might have to forfeit my training. I had fallen in love with the weights and wanted to push myself further, not back off. I was truly disheartened.
My trainer recommended I call Dr. Justin at Strive2Move. “If anyone can get to the source of your problem, it’s Dr. Justin,” he told me. So I reached out that afternoon.
I was impressed that Dr. Justin took the time to personally call me before even bringing me into the office. He wanted to get an understanding of what was going on to see if he could help. We discussed my symptoms and after our phone conversation, he seemed confident that he could. I wasn’t completely convinced, but hopeful.
At my office visit, we talked not just about my pain but also my posture and my work. Dr. Justin felt that this was also contributing to my issue.
I’m excited to say that my treatment over the course of a few weeks has had me making steady progress in the right direction. Not only do I have pain relief, I have arrived at the point where I am now back in the gym and training with confidence!
And as much as I’m thrilled to be feeling better, what I value even more is the knowledge I’ve gained and the tools I’ve acquired. I’ve learned to recognize my triggers, and I know what corrections need to be made. This valuable insight will continue to inform how I approach my work, my training and keep my back healthy.
If you are struggling with pain, talk to Dr. Justin at Strive2Move. I can’t recommend his integral approach highly enough. Thank you, Dr. Justin!
